Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is apparently making plans for the possible arrival of Brentford forward Kevin Schade as new co-sporting director Fabio Paratici works on a deal behind-closed-doors.
The 23-year-old, who was signed by Frank in a £22 million deal from SC Freiburg just over two years ago, has gone on to seriously impress at the G-tech Community Stadium.
Schade initially joined on loan in January 2023, but after Brentford made his stay permanent, the German sought to repay their faith.
While he missed almost the entirety of his full debut campaign with a hip adductor injury, Schade fired back to full form and fitness in 2024/2025 — bagging 12 goals and three assists in all competitions under Frank whilst playing in every single Premier League match for them.
The former Bundesliga sensation is already off the mark and running for Keith Andrews’ new-look Brentford side this season too, and he’s now attracting serious attention from N17.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg recently, Tottenham are among the teams keeping close tabs on Schade, and the Germany international is “one to watch” this season with his contract expiring in under three years.
Frank’s obvious tie with Schade from their time together at Brentford has also led to speculation that Spurs could try their luck at a January deal.
This is now backed up by an intriguing update via CaughtOffside and journalist Mark Brus, who shared what Frank has now got in mind for Schade at Tottenham.
What Frank has "already" planned for Schade at Tottenham
Quoting multiple sources of his, Brus claims that Frank has “already planned how he’d slot into the system” for Spurs, with another source reporting “Paratici is working behind the scenes” on a deal.
Another source adds that Tottenham see Schade as the “perfect profile” to come in and bolster Frank’s attacking options.
However, this all being said, the Bees are known to be stubborn negotiators and have placed a £48 million price tag on the forward’s head as we slowly enter 2026.
Frank, amid his wave of injury problems, still has Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison yet to return, and once they come back, it’ll be difficult to see where Schade could fit in given their current wide options.

Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus also stand out among their crop right now, with Mikey Moore also to return from his loan spell at Rangers at the end of the season.
Spurs arguably have more pressing matters to deal with, like their potential need for a reliable striker.
Paratici and co-director Johan Lange have been linked with a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney or Juventus star Dušan Vlahović amid the uncertainty surrounding Richarlison’s future and Dominic Solanke’s fitness woes.
That being said, if Frank is indeed already making plans to slot Schade into his Spurs setup, the Dane appears to be serious.
Manchester United are reportedly keen on returning Scott McTominay to Old Trafford, having accepted that they made a mistake when sanctioning a move to Napoli for the Scotland international midfielder in 2024. A £26 million ($34m) deal took McTominay to Italy, where he has become a Serie A title winner, and it would cost around £44m ($58m) to bring him back.
Serie A title winner: McTominay a fan favourite in Italy
After taking in 255 appearances for the Red Devils, McTominay jumped at the chance to spread his wings and leave British football. Having rarely been a guaranteed starter at Old Trafford, the 28-year-old has become a fan favourite in Naples.
He captured the Italian top-flight crown last season, posting a career-best return of 13 goals across all competitions and landing MVP honours. There have been suggestions that he, alongside girlfriend Cam Reading, may be feeling a little unsettled during his second year with Napoli.

La Liga giants Barcelona have been credited with interest, while Newcastle and Tottenham would reportedly welcome the opportunity to bring McTominay back to the Premier League. If that path were to be trodden, then United could also come into the mix.
According to : “There is concrete interest in Scott McTominay. Manchester United would have him back, and keep an eye on Newcastle and Tottenham. Barcelona also view him as someone who could be a good fit for their midfield.”
Were Man Utd wrong to let McTominay leave?
Many with ties to United have questioned why the Red Devils allowed McTominay to move on, given his versatility and home-grown status. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is among those to have been left baffled by a sale that made little sense.
The 1999 Treble winner handed McTominay 115 appearances during his reign as United manager and has told the podcast of why he would never have given the green light to a departure: “I was almost shocked because you need or want a core of the local lads, ones who get the club. Scott did.
“For me, I think he’s shown in Italy how good of a player he is. His character, personality around the place, he sets the standards and he’d survive when we played 100 per cent. He was voted Serie A Player of the Year last year and won the league with Napoli so he’s one of them that you only know when you’ve got him, how good he is and how important he can be.
“In my squad, Scotty probably wasn’t allowed to play in his best position enough, yeah [because of] Bruno [Fernandes] and maybe the lack of physicality that we had. You saw a couple of games against Leeds, we said: ‘Scott, this is a man-to-man game, we want you running through as a third man,’ and he scored, two or three, I can’t remember how many goals he scored against Leeds. That’s probably a reason because we think of him as… he’s one of the eights. Great physicality.”
While Solskjaer remains a big fan of McTominay, ex-United captain Roy Keane is not convinced that the Red Devils need to go back over old ground. He said: “I’m always wary when lads leave, for a club like Napoli now but it’s a different challenge to Man United and he’s done well.
“Good luck to the lad but I still wasn’t hanging my hat on him every week going, ‘He will be the lad that will bring Man United back.’ When you’re classing him as a squad player and someone says, ‘Here’s £30m,' it’s not a bad deal.”

GettyMcTominay contract: When Napoli deal expires
McTominay has added a further four goals to his Napoli tally this season through 14 outings across Serie A and Champions League competition. He has been joined at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona by former United colleague Rasmus Hojlund and ex-Manchester City rival Kevin De Bruyne.
He is tied to a contract through to 2028, with there no suggestion that his current employers are open to offers. In the present, McTominay forms part of the Scotland squad that are hoping to secure automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup through their upcoming clashes with Greece and Denmark.

The PSL is likely to resume later this week with the PCB aiming to hold the remaining games in Pakistan. The league, which was postponed due to increasing cross-border tensions with India, has eight games left and the PCB, as well as several franchises, is eager to conclude the season as early as possible. The PSL held meetings with the franchises on Monday to discuss specific dates and venues. The most pressing issue is the availability of overseas players, with ESPNcricinfo understanding a significant number are unlikely to return. The asymmetry of player availability may also impact squads, with some franchises more confident about overseas players rejoining than others. To mitigate that, the PCB is also believed to be considering a replacement draft to make up the numbers. While the quality of players available for such a draft is a concern – the most in-demand players were already with the PSL or the IPL – it is likely to be a necessary step to fill the gaps. The logistics around production will also need to be sorted, with the contracts for broadcasting teams ending on 18 May, the date for the final before the league had to be suspended.Several stakeholders at the franchises ESPNcricinfo spoke to said that bringing foreign players back for the remainder of the season had been made difficult by the decisions compelled upon the PCB from the sheer volatility of the period leading to the league’s suspension. As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, the PSL at one point went through three different options within 24 hours. The PCB initially considered moving the tournament to Karachi after the security situation around the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium became untenable, before announcing early on Friday morning that it would be held in the UAE. Later that day, though, with the IPL also suspended by this point, it was announced the PSL was being suspended indefinitely – a decision ultimately made on the advice of the Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.During this time, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with the overseas players. One franchise member told ESPNcricinfo the players were “in no frame of mind” to play at this point, with emotions running high. It was decided that evening to airlift the players to the UAE that night from an airbase. The conclusion of PSL 2025 will mark the end of the ten-year leases for the six franchises, with the contracts up for renewal and renegotiation. The current owners have right of first refusal, with several indicating a preference to purchase teams in perpetuity rather than operate on rolling long-term contracts. The PSL spilling into the last ten days of May is also expected to impact Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan. Bangladesh were due to arrive on May 21 and play five T20Is starting on May 25, with the first two in Faisalabad and the remaining three in Lahore. The BCB said it was in “active and ongoing discussions” about the tour.
Phil Simmons will continue as Bangladesh’s head coach for the next two years, up until the end of the 2027 ODI World Cup. The BCB offered him a longer contract after initially appointing him as interim coach until the conclusion of the 2025 Champions Trophy.”I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with Bangladesh cricket on a long-term basis,” Simmons, 61, said. “The talent within this team is undeniable, and I believe we have the potential to achieve great things together. I am looking forward to the journey ahead. Having worked with some exceptional players already, I can see the immense promise in this squad. Their skill and passion for the game inspire me daily. Together, we can take Bangladesh cricket to new heights and create something truly special.”Simmons did not have much success in his stint as interim coach. During that period, Bangladesh won one Test and a T20I series in West Indies but crashed out in the group stage of the Champions Trophy after losing to India and New Zealand.”My time with the Bangladesh team over the past few months has been incredibly rewarding,” Simmons said. “The energy, commitment, and ability within this group have been nothing short of impressive. I’m excited to continue helping these players reach their full potential.”The appointment puts to rest speculation on Simmons’ future with Bangladesh and he will not coach Karachi Kings anymore in the PSL. He was Karachi’s head coach since December 2023.Simmons, who is one of four coaches to oversee 400 international matches, was appointed the Bangladesh coach on the same day that the BCB suspended Chandika Hathurusinghe in October.Simmons, who played for West Indies in the 1990s, was previously the head coach of Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan. He also coached West Indies for two terms, winning the T20 World Cup in 2016.
Doubts need to be allayed nearly every day in the IPL, but Ajinkya Rahane made a good start to his captaincy stint at Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 56 off 31, but KKR failed to capitalise on the breathtaking partnership between him and Sunil Narine. Put in, they were 107 for 2 in ten overs when Narine was dismissed for 44 off 26 but added only a further 67 in the second half. The death overs went at under a run a ball.Krunal Pandya led the comeback of Royal Challengers Bengaluru with the wickets of Rahane, Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer in an overall analysis of 4-0-29-3. Suyash Sharma, the former KKR player who got off to a poor start, made a big contribution in his final over with the wicket of Andre Russell with a wrong’un.The drying up of the runs in the end was not too different to how Josh Hazlewood forced KKR into a slow start. The first three overs brought just nine runs and the wicket of Quinton de Kock. The new ball stopped a little and went a little up and down.Once Rahane got started with a gift on the leg side, the next seven overs produced 98 runs. Rahane was brutal, putting a low price on his wicket and taking risks every time he could. Narine went from 1 off eight to score 43 off the next 18 balls he faced. It involved taking down his former team-mate, legspinner Suyash, whom he played like an offspinner.Krunal, though, pulled things back once Narine got out to Rasikh Salam. He even tried a bouncer in a spell in which he kept changing the pace often. Two of his three wickets were bowled, which was a tribute to his accuracy.Hazlewood and Yash Dayal closed out superbly for RCB to give them what looked like an easy target provided Narine and Varun Chakravarthy didn’t cause much damage.
Newcastle United had little choice but to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool on deadline day, with the rebel striker having agitated to leave throughout the summer transfer window.
Having banked a British record £130m fee for the Sweden striker, the Premier League challengers can now turn their attention toward the football, for it’s been clear that the noise has disrupted early-season preparations, just two points from three opening fixtures.
Newcastle United manager EddieHowebefore the match
Eddie Howe must be frustrated by the whole ordeal, but he and his team have quietly gone about their business these past few months, with the summer dealings coming to something of a pleasing head.
Indeed, the Magpies may well have replaced the irreplaceable.
How Newcastle have replaced Isak
Many strikers were targeted this summer, and it took a long while before Newcastle found a breakthrough in their protracted pursuit, signing Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart last week for a club-record £69m fee.
The German international is only 23, but he scored 12 goals from 17 starts in the Bundesliga last season and drew praise for his silky movements and technical control on the ball. European football expert Zach Lowy remarked his depth of quality is “absolutely ridiculous”.
He might take a bit of time to get up to speed, but Woltemade has the potential to serve as Isak did, playing for Howe as a world-class option.
And with a prolific and Prem-proven dance partner in Yoane Wissa jockeying for purchase alongside him, Howe might just find that he has the tools to replace Isak’s 27-goal return across the past campaign in the aggregate.
Especially when considering that the Toon Academy has come on leaps and bounds. Not just welcoming top talents from the youth ranks, Newcastle are also targeting and winning battles for some of Europe’s most coveted youngsters, and one such prospect could be their new version of Isak.
Newcastle's new version of Isak
One of Howe’s biggest strengths is his capacity to take talented up-and-comers and shape them into top Premier League players, and Isak has been the perfect example of that.
He might be gone, but Vakhtang Salia could be Newcastle’s next superstar, with United having beaten off competition from teams such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to sign him from Dinamo Tbilisi last month, a deal agreed a year prior. Such vast interest from Europe’s elite only demonstrates the immense potential gracing Salia’s game.
Like Isak, the 18-year-old Georgian is tactically dynamic, and while he hasn’t refined his shooting ability yet, he has been praised for his “very high work-rate” by Genk scout Mikha Gabechava.
With pace and technical skill, he has often found a role out on the left, something Isak has done efficiently when called upon at Newcastle.

Still finding his way after a month getting into gear at St. James’ Park, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Salia handed some first-team minutes across the campaign, especially with Isak having been sold.
It might be a touch premature to start listing this teenager as the next version of the Sweden international, but Howe and Newcastle have the perfect grounds to shape him into a Toon-standard star.
Salia still has a long way to go, but there’s no question that he’s endowed with all the physical and technical qualities needed to succeed at Newcastle, with journalist Graeme Bailey hailing him as “one of the best teenage prospects in the world”.
He's outscoring Woltemade: Newcastle must regret selling the original Wissa
Newcastle could do with this striker’s quality after selling Isak to Liverpool.
West Bromwich Albion are broadening their horizons in the transfer market and have now received a reply to a bid for a talent from overseas, according to Ben Jacobs.
West Bromwich Albion step up hunt for new arrivals
The Baggies are hard at work in the window and have already brought Aune Heggebo, Nat Phillips and George Campbell in at The Hawthorns, though there are more additions set to come in the weeks to follow.
However, recent West Brom loan target Mikey Moore won’t be signing on the dotted line, with the Tottenham Hotspur man now closing in on a switch to Rangers for the season.
Following their defeat to Lincoln City in pre-season, Ryan Mason has urged his side to fix their teething problems in time for the new Championship campaign.
He stated: “It was disappointing, and not just the result, but I also understand there’s a lot to do. It’s our third game this week, which was good from some aspects, but I don’ think any of us were happy with the start we made to the game.
“This is something we need to fix quickly because the first Championship game is two weeks away. There’s positives from a physical side, and there’s the pre-season aspect, which says a lot at this stage. But, ultimately, we need to try and accelerate this process as quickly as possible.”

New additions will be key to implementing the improvement Mason is keen to deliver, and Northern Ireland international Jamal Lewis could strengthen the Baggies’ defensive line.
Now, they have received a reply for a bid submitted to try and land another defender who originates from much further afield.
West Brom receive outcome of bid for Luca Bombino
Taking to social media platform X, journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that West Brom have saw a bid turned down for FC San Diego defender Luca Bombino, who is actually on loan from Major League Soccer outfit LAFC.
Regardless, San Diego will trigger an option to buy the 19-year-old left-back upon the expiry of his temporary agreement. The Baggies are said to be well below their valuation of the United States Under-20 international.
While his club are in no rush to sell, reports of their rejected offer and interest in Lewis do indicate that West Brom are in the market for a new left-back.
Across the current season, Bombino has registered a goal and two assists in 19 MLS appearances, and he has previously been labelled a “talented young player with a bright future” by San Diego sporting director Tyler Heaps.
It remains to be determined whether West Brom will force a deal over the line, but they are seemingly looking at all avenues to source new additions.
