The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) corruption tribunal will take extra time to complete its detailed verdict, according to Justice Khademul Islam Chowdhury, the convener of the three-member committee. The verdict was expected to be pronounced by the end of May, and BCB president Nazmul Hassan said he was worried by the delay and had been questioned by the ICC about it.The delay is due to the process of deciding on the punishment for those who have pleaded guilty and been charged so far. One of the three who had pleaded guilty was former Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful, suspended from all cricket by the BCB since 2013.”This is a very big case and we have done plenty of work to give out the short verdict,” Khademul told the . “We will try our best to submit the detailed verdict as soon as possible. We are working on it.”We need to sit at court again in order to decide the kind of punishment to be given to those who have been charged and those who confessed. We have not decided a date for that, but it will be completed as soon as possible.”The short verdict was released on February 26 when one of the nine accused was found guilty. Shihab Chowdury, co-owner of the Dhaka Gladiators franchise was found guilty of “being party to an effort to fix” a match in the BPL’s second edition, while Ashraful and another player had confessed to being involved in corruption in the BPL. Six others were discharged as not guilty by the tribunal.BCB chief Hassan, however, expressed doubts about those who were found not guilty. “I am worried about the delay. The ICC asked me during the last meeting why it is taking so much time,” Hassan said. “When we talked about Ashraful, they asked me how can a person who has admitted to fixing be punished but the party from whom he has taken money be discharged? I could not answer that.”I spoke to my colleagues about the tribunal about 15-20 days ago, at which time they said it will be done in two-three weeks. I don’t see any signs of it now. I will wait till May 30 and then give them [the tribunal] a letter.”

My performance in this year’s IPL is for everyone to see. I can do what’s there in my control. But let me assure you, I might get hurt by the snub but it would not stall my comeback bid. Among the Indian spinners, I believe that I bowled the best.”Harbhajan, 33, could not find a place for the ODIs in Bangladesh, nor was he in contention for the Tests in England. He has not been part of an Indian side since March 2013. There have been arguments that he slips into defensive tactics and that his effect diminishes when tasked as the lead spinner. However, in the latter part of the IPL, he had to shoulder Mumbai Indians’ attack in the absence of last season’s spearheads.”There was no Mitch (Johnson) this year and Lasith (Malinga) had international commitments after first 10 games,” he said. “So I had more responsibility this year as the senior-most bowler.”I flighted the ball and was slower through the air. In 14 IPL matches, there were 10 games where I went for less than 24 runs. There was only one match in which I went for more than 35 runs and that was against Rajasthan Royals.”Harbhajan bowled 55 overs in the competition and finished with the third-best economy rate. However, only five of them were sent down during the last five overs. The majority of his workload (42 overs) was between the 7th and the 15th overs.”What satisfied me was that on most occasions, I was able to make the batsman play the ball where I wanted him to play. From grip to execution, it felt good. It reinstated my belief that I am good enough to play at this level for another five years.”A reasonable lower-order hitter, Harbhajan had the statistics to back his claim for his re-branding as an allrounder. He also has two Test centuries.”When I watch my matches on TV, I see that beside my name they show a ball which means I am a specialist bowler. I have more than 1000 runs (1043 runs) in T20 coming in at Nos 8 and 9. I have a strike-rate of 142-plus over 164 matches. How am I clubbed only as a specialist bower?”

Paiva projetou o duelo com o Flamengo, na semifinal do campeonato, e aproveitou para analisar a partida, sem deixar de valorizar a grande atuação do goleiro Young, que fez grandes defesas no tempo normal e ainda pegou dois pênaltis na decisão que levou a equipe para a próxima fase.

-O time soube jogar fora das nossa característica ofensiva, mas do jeito que o jogo pedia. Sofremos mais defensivamente, mas conseguimos não tomar o gol. O Young teve um dia que foi iluminado, tanto no jogo quanto e nas cobranças de pênalti, e isso fortalece muito todo o grupo para o restante do ano. O Flamengo é uma equipe muito boa, joga um jogo que encaixa melhor com o nosso, e serão jogos de muita qualidade, um bom espetáculo pra todo mundo – declarou o comandante tricolor.

Destaque da partida, o goleiro Young também falou da conquista da vaga e de sua atuação, mas sem deixar de salientar que o resultado é fruto de trabalho e dedicação de todo o grupo, que vai manter a mesma pegada na sequência.

Somerset James Hildreth hit a breathtaking 146 not out and Lewis Gregory an unbeaten 105 as Somerset began their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign with a five-wicket victory over Durham in a high-scoring game at Taunton.The visitors posted a challenging 311 for 7 after winning the toss, Paul Collingwood leading the way with 113, including 12 fours and three sixes while Keaton Jennings made 45, Phil Mustard 40 and Gareth Breese 34 not out.In reply, Somerset slipped to 106 for 5 before Hildreth was joined by Gregory in an exhilarating unbroken stand of 209 – a sixth-wicket record for the county in List A cricket – which thrilled a 4,000 crowd and enabled the hosts to reach their target with 20 balls to spare.Hildreth faced 134 balls, hitting 13 fours and three sixes, while Gregory’s career-best score came off 71 deliveries, with 13 fours and one six. Their partnership occupied just 145 balls.Earlier, Durham lost three wickets in making 37 from their initial 10 overs of Powerplay. Opener Mark Stoneman had made only 3 when he cut a simple catch to George Dockrell at backward point off Gregory. There are few more attractive batsmen to watch at their best in the county game.Gregory lost nothing by comparison, moving to a 40-ball half-century, with four fours and a six, and matching his partner shot-for-shot in reaching a near-faultless maiden hundred.Hildreth paid tribute to his batting partner, saying: “So much credit goes to Lewis Gregory because he played a fantastic innings and took a lot of the pressure off me. It was a great partnership to be involved in and I enjoyedevery minute.”Collingwood took consolation from his side’s performance in a memorable game: “The quality of cricket played by both teams was outstanding. When a lad comes in at number seven and hits a 70-ball hundred you have to take your hat off to him.”But we were in control of the game for long periods and that is something to take forward into our next match.”
