E o ataque segue sendo um dos problemas de Tite até aqui. Com Raphinha, Vini Jr. e Matheus Cunha no onze inicial contra a La Tri, o trio pouco assustou em Quito. No banco, as opções eram Gabigol, Antony e Gabriel Jesus, que entraram no decorrer do duelo, mas também não foram bem. O último, inclusive, não balança as redes pela Seleção desde a final da Copa América 2019.

No meio-campo, a escolha de colocar Philippe Coutinho no time foi um sinal de que o novo jogador do Aston Villa tem a confiança da comissão técnica. No entanto, a estratégia por água abaixo com a expulsão de Emerson Royal antes dos 20 minutos. O camisa 11 acabou escolhido para deixar o gramado para a entrada de Daniel Alves.

Ainda no setor de criação, quem parece se firmar cada vez mais é Fred. O jogador do Manchester United mais uma vez fez grande partida, com muita visão de jogo, e mostrou que está entrosado com Casemiro. Em 2018, Fred foi ao Mundial da Rússia, mas não entrou em nenhum jogo.

Se Emerson Royal não aproveitou bem sua chance contra o Equador, Daniel Alves fez grande partida. Aos 38 anos, o ala mostrou que ainda segue em boa forma e está preparado para ir para sua terceira Copa do Mundo. E quem sabe brigando pela titularidade.

Ainda tentando encontrar o encaixe perfeito, a Seleção Brasileira volta a campo na próxima terça-feira, contra o Paraguai, para mais uma rodada das Eliminatórias Sul-Americanas. O confronto acontece no Mineirão, em Belo Horizonte, às 21h30 (de Brasília).

Newcastle United boast some talented midfielders in their current squad who have cost them a fair amount of money over the past few years.

One of those players was not even signed as a midfielder but has since been converted by manager Eddie Howe. That man is Joelinton, who joined as a centre-forward for a then club-record £40m back in 2019.

Bruno Guimaraes is another the Magpies boast in the middle of the park. Now the club captain, he also cost them £40m including add-ons in January 2022 from Lyon. Sandro Tonali was another expensive buy, setting them back £55m from AC Milan in 2023.

There is another player, a homegrown star, who has become a trusting figure in midfield for Howe over the years. That man is Sean Longstaff.

Longstaff’s Newcastle career

27-year-old academy graduate Longstaff has become an important player for Howe in the midfield. He has racked up an impressive number of games for the Magpies, featuring 194 times for the club, scoring 16 times and grabbing ten assists.

The man currently in the dugout has been an influential figure in Longstaff’s career so far. Under the Newcastle boss, he has played 114 times finding the back of the net 11 times, registering seven assists. Last term in the Premier League, Longstaff was particularly efficient, contributing to eight goals, his best season yet.

Even now, amongst all this impressive talent in the midfield at St James’ Park, the Newcastle-born star is able to get minutes. He has started five times in the top flight, playing 422 minutes and nine games in total.

He was impressive in the Magpies’ superb 1-0 win at home against Arsenal. The North East outfit got over the line with an Alexander Isak goal. Longstaff worked incredibly hard in midfield to win seven out of ten ground duels and six from seven tackles, as per Sofascore.

There is no question that the Newcastle number 36 gives 100% every week for his boyhood club. With that being said, there is another homegrown midfielder who left over the summer, someone who could have ended up going on to be better than Longstaff.

The midfielder Newcastle sold

The player in question here is Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Like Longstaff, the 21-year-old also came through the academy at St James’ Park, although left the club for £35m in the summer to avoid breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

He featured 55 times for his boyhood club, and his last two seasons at the club saw him become a more prominent player. Last term, Anderson played 21 times in the Premier League but did miss a large chunk of the season due to injury.

Since his big-money departure to the City Ground over the summer, the midfielder has thrived. Under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo, the Forest number eight has played 10 games in the Premier League.

Impressively, he has three assists to his name so far, with two of those coming in the last two games, including a 3-1 win in the East Midlands derby against Leicester City.

Howe was full of praise for his former midfielder earlier in the season before Newcastle’s meeting with Forest in the Carabao Cup second round. He described the Magpies academy graduate as an “outstanding” footballer, praising the “versatility” he can offer.

Although it seemed like they had to sell Anderson to comply with Premier League rules, the Magpies may well regret moving the midfielder on. The Forest midfielder could certainly have replaced Longstaff in the middle of the park, given his versatility and quality that Howe clearly appreciates.

He has made impressive progress for the Midlands club already, and it could be a sale that, in the coming years, the Magpies look back on and wish they had never made.

وقال خالد الغندور في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة المحور: “رسالتي لإمام عاشور أنه ليس عيبًا أن تظهر وتعتذر وتقول أنا أسف للجهاز الفني لمنتخب مصر وعفى الله عما سلف”.

وتابع: “منتخب مصر مهم مثل الأهلي، ويجب أن يعد التوأم أن يكون عند حسن ظنهما”.

وأتم: “أنا ندمان أنني لم أعمل تاريخ مع منتخب مصر، كان يوجد اهتمام كبير بالنادي وهذا كان خطأ كبير مني، والتاريخ أنك تمثل بلدك مثلما تمثل ناديك”.

Aston Villa are currently in the midst of a poor run of form and are struggling to break out of it. Unai Emery’s side have lost their last four games in all competitions, and have not won in five games. Admittedly, the Villans have had some tough fixtures, having lost 4-1 away to Tottenham and 2-0 away to Liverpool within the last week or so.

Their disappointing results of late have left them reeling in ninth in the Premier League after such a promising start. The Midlands club are just one point off the top four, but if their concerning form continues, there is no reason to suggest they will not slip further down the table.

Emery may well look to recruit over the winter transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad in the hope of improving their fortunes. They have recently been linked with one player who could add depth in midfield.

Aston Villa transfer news

The player in question here is Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The 26-year-old was a summer signing for the Blues in 2024, following boss Enzo Maresca from Leicester to London. However, he has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

According to a report from Spain, the Villans are interested in signing the former Leicester City man this winter. Dewsbury-Hall is ‘one of the names that has emerged strongly on their list of targets’ as they look to strengthen their side.

The report suggests the Blues are looking to make their money back on the midfielder. They paid the Foxes £30m for his services, and are thought to want £28.9m plus add-ons back for him, taking the price back up to what they paid.

As per report, the Villans are hoping to secure Dewsbury-Hall’s services on loan, with an option to buy him in the summer. They are believed to be ready to lodge an offer of £12.4m up front and £5.7m as bonuses.

Why Dewsbury-Hall would be a good signing

It has been a very frustrating season for the Leicester academy graduate. He has played just ten times in all competitions, scoring once in the Europa Conference League. Incredibly, the £80k-per-week midfielder has just 43 Premier League minutes to his name and has not even been in the squad for six of the 11 games this term.

However, he was superb last season as the Foxes stormed the Championship. He was one of six players to score and assist 25 or more goals last season, one of only two midfielders to do so.

In total, the 26-year-old scored 12 goals and grabbed 14 assists to help Leicester back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. It was for this reason that football statistician Statman Dave described him as a “top talent”.

He could be a perfect upgrade on John McGinn. The Aston Villa captain plays as one of the outside number 10s in Emery’s famed 4-2-2-2 system. However, for all the hard work he does off the ball, his goal contribution numbers are underwhelming.

The Scotland international has played 13 times this season and has just one goal and one assist to his name so far. In nine Premier League appearances, McGinn is yet to score or assist and was actually dropped to the bench for their most recent game at Anfield.

The transition from McGinn to Dewsbury-Hall should not be too tough. The pair are both impressive off the ball, with the Scotland international averaging 4.83 ball recoveries per game last season, and the Leicester academy graduate even more, at 5.57 as per FBref.

Not only can Dewsbury-Hall match, or even better the intensity that McGinn has out of possession, but his quality in possession in the final third is superior.

Last term, the Chelsea midfielder registered more key passes with 2.7 per game to McGinn’s 1.32, and more goal-creating actions per 90 minutes, with 0.77 compared to 0.42. On top of that, he also got far more goal involvements, including a goal and assist in a crucial game against Norwich City.

It seems like the perfect deal for the Villans to do this winter. They would be signing a perfect fit for Emery’s system, who will contribute goals and assists and work incredibly hard without the ball.

On a loan with an option to buy, signing Dewsbury-Hall seems like a fantastic option.

Diego Costa trata Ceni como um ídolo de infância. São-paulino desde pequeno, o defensor relembra com carinho das conquistas do ex-goleiro e agora divide os treinamentos e vestiários com o ‘Mito’.

– Desde a chegada do Rogério Ceni, muitas coisas melhoraram. Ele é um cara que conhece o clube desde sempre, nasceu aqui, passou grande parte de sua vida aqui. Acompanho ele desde pequeno, tanto como pessoa, como técnico, ele é muito bom, excelente. Tenho uma particularidade: eu gosto muito da pessoa dele, um cara super transparente, trata todo mundo igual. Espero que só continue melhorando – afirmou o defensor.

O seu crescimento também se deve a parceria com a dupla Miranda e Arboleda, companheiros de posição e que vem ajudando o jovem de 22 anos dentro de campo.

-Durante a partida, antes da partida, dependendo do atacante que vamos enfrentar. Nos treinos também, sempre estou perguntando, são jogadores que jogaram outros clubes, campeonatos. Miranda jogou muito tempo na Europa. Sempre estou perguntando para aprender, na situação do jogos, quando estamos ganhando, perdendo… Isso ajuda na minha evolução – comentou Diego.

BOM MOMENTO NA TEMPORADA
Acredito que estou conseguindo ter sequência, me sentindo bem nos jogos, trabalhando bastante. A confiança do Rogério em mim vem sendo importante, estou tendo mais oportunidades que o normal. Acho que esse é o caminho.

MOTIVOS DA BOA FASE
Eu sempre treino bastante, independentemente de estar jogando ou não, para estar bem fisicamente. Agora com o Rogério, eu estou conseguindo ter mais minutos. Com isso, eu consigo demonstrar o que eu sei fazer de melhor, que é defender, trocar passes, a bola aérea, a marcação… Com mais minutos, eu consigo jogar melhor. Não tendo minutos, não vou conseguir jogar muito bem, simplesmente por não estar jogando.

TREINOS DE ROGÉRIO CENI
Eu sempre procuro escutar bastante, ele é um ídolo. Tudo que ele pede para mim, escuto com muita atenção, tento fazer o melhor. Tenho muito a aprender com ele aqui dentro. Pelo que convivo com ele no CT, nos bastidores, no vestiário, ele sempre está estudando, mexendo no computador, escrevendo alguma coisa. O Rogério chega muito antes do treinamento e vai embora muito depois. O treinamento dele é muto intenso, ele cobra muito no treino. Então, se você treina bem, você vai jogar. Ele é um grande treinador.

PASSAGEM DE HERNÁN CRESPO
Na primeira temporada que eu joguei com o Diniz, consegui mostrar bastante. Já com o Crespo não joguei tanto, fiquei fora de muitas partidas seguidas, então fiquei sem ritmo de jogo. Mas não parei de trabalhar, sabia que eu ia voltar para o time. O Crespo é um grande treinador, opção dele, sempre trabalhei e respeitei. Foi um grande jogador, é um grande técnico. Joguei bastante com o Diniz e com ele nem tanto. Mas foi bom para eu dar valor quando estou jogando. Acho que tudo é um aprendizado, tenho humildade para saber o momento de trabalhar mais.

Nós conversamos muito, sempre procuro ver o que eles estão fazendo de bom. Miranda então, nem se fala. Arboleda, também. Nesse mesmo jogo (contra o Santos), a gente conversava, trocava ideia, quando eles estão jogando também. Quero estar jogando, trabalho para sempre estar em campo, eles também. Cada um buscando seu espaço, respeitando o companheiro. Acredito que só assim poderemos ter um time campeão. Quem ganha com isso é o São Paulo. Conversamos mais sobre o jogo em si, sabe?

ESQUEMA COM DOIS OU TRÊS ZAGUEIROS
Não vejo tanta diferença, acho que depende de toda a equipe, não só da linha de quatro ou de três. Sempre me senti bem jogando ali, jogo de zagueiro, já joguei de lateral, de volante, na esquerda, centro, direita… Me sinto bem habituado, não tenho problema com nenhuma posição ou esquema. Depende do jogo e do que o treinador pede.

RELAÇÃO COM A TORCIDA
Não costumo dar muita entrevista (risos). Nasci dentro do São Paulo. Desde pequeno, estou no clube desde os 14, 15 anos. Cheguei no profissional preparado para receber as críticas, conviver com os elogios também. Jogo num clube que é imenso, com milhões de torcedores, estou sempre trabalhando bastante para corresponder. É ter humildade, pés no chão, saber o momento de ouvir os elogios e receber as críticas. Tudo tem seu momento, nem sempre é só a fase boa, nem a fase ruim. Trabalhar para estar bem e ajudar a equipe.

IMPORTÂNCIA DE COTIA NA CARREIRA
Ajuda, com certeza. Cotia é o melhor centro de treinamento de base do mundo (risos). Lá eu aprendi como ser humano, como jogador. Cheguei aqui preparado psicologicamente, dentro de campo também. Saber lidar com as críticas, estar conseguindo ter sequência. É um processo muito importante.

SONHO NO SÃO PAULO
O meu maior sonho é ser campeão com a camisa do São Paulo, fazer grandes jogos, marcar gol no Morumbi lotado. Minha trajetória está só começando, tenho muitos sonhos aqui dentro.

– Cheguei no profissional preparado para receber as críticas, conviver com os elogios também. Jogo num clube imenso, com milhões de torcedores, estou sempre trabalhando bastante para corresponder. É ter humildade, pés no chão, saber o momento de ouvir os elogios e receber as críticas.

FUTURO NO SÃO PAULO
Eu penso em estar no São Paulo. O resto eu deixo para os meus empresários. Não penso em outra coisa a não ser ficar aqui. Quero jogar no Morumbi, quero estar aqui. O São Paulo é a minha casa, onde me sinto bem, me sinto feliz. Tenho uma boa expectativa para esse ano, o Rogério Ceni vem me dando mais minutos e estou conseguindo mostrar mais o meu trabalho.

PAULISTÃO
Temos que trabalhar mais, ainda falta muito no Paulista. Tem grandes equipes também, estamos conseguindo encontrar o time, os jogadores estão confiantes, o grupo está fechado. Estamos entendo o que o Ceni está passando para nós, mas temos que evoluir ainda mais para conseguir o objetivo, que é ser campeão.

RELACIONAMENTO COM JOVENS DE COTIA NO PROFISSIONAL
Os mais novos sempre são os que falam mais com os jogadores mais experientes, sempre estão brincando, conversando bastante. O Reinaldo e o Miranda são os que mais brincam. Acho que a relação é muito boa. Já conhecia a rapaziada, o Caio, o Marquinhos… Acompanhei a Copinha, os jogos de Cotia, então sempre trocávamos mensagens, passando apoio.

Estamos nos preparando bastante, temos muito trabalho pela frente, a temporada começou agora. Acho que será um ano bom, o gruo está bem, estamos fechados com o Rogério. Todo jogo temos que estar concentrados, ligados, respeitar o adversário. Vamos para ganhar, o São Paulo tem que estar nas competições para ganhar. Foi assim que aprendi na base e isso está começando a acontecer no profissional também. Acho que vamos entrar com a cabeça tranquila, é um novo torneio, o que passou ficou para trás. É um torneio que ainda não temos. Vamos entrar para ganhar.

Role of former club chairman called to account at DCMS hearing in Westminster

Andrew Miller25-Jan-2022Colin Graves, the former ECB chairman, has been told to “put up or shut up”, and accept an invitation to testify before the parliamentary select committee investigating racism in English cricket, after being accused by the committee chair of “substantial and ongoing interference” in the running of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.The Graves family trust is owed approximately £15 million by Yorkshire following a bail-out in the early 2000s which saved the club from bankruptcy, and according to Roger Hutton – the former chairman who resigned in the wake of Azeem Rafiq’s damning allegations of institutional racism at the club – Graves’ continued role behind the scenes has been a significant “roadblock” in Yorkshire’s delayed response to the crisis.Yorkshire launched an investigation into Rafiq’s claims in September 2020, but it wasn’t until Rafiq’s appearance before the department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) select committee, more than a year later in November 2021, that the findings of that investigation were finally put into the public domain. By that stage, the club’s failure to take action had led to the mass withdrawal of the club’s sponsors, including Nike and Emerald, amid a swathe of damaging revelations about the dressing-room culture.Opening the proceedings at the latest DCMS hearing in Westminster, chairman Julian Knight MP noted that Graves had declined an invitation to testify at the hearing – he is currently in Barbados, where England’s cricketers are taking on West Indies in five T20Is – but criticised him for “putting his head above the parapet” in an interview last week with the Yorkshire Post, in which he had insisted that the club’s inaction had been down to weak leadership from Hutton rather than interference from the trustees, before telling Knight that, if he wanted to run English cricket, “he should apply for the job of ECB chairman”.In response to Graves’ remarks, Knight read out extracts from a letter from Hutton to the committee: “What was happening on a weekly basis is it sometimes appeared to me as if Mr Graves was influencing the trust and sometimes spoke as if he was,” Hutton was quoted as saying.”Mr Graves expressed concern at how the investigation [into Rafiq’s allegations] had taken place some of which I empathised with. But his views on Azeem Rafiq, the finding of the report and how the club should respond to those findings are were different from mine.”Shortly after that meeting, I was contacted by the trust’s independent observer. He explained very clearly that I should not consider the trust an ordinary secure creditor. He also told me, though it proved to be incorrect, that the trust could remove me if they didn’t like what I was doing and that I should listen to what they say.”The trust summoned me to a meeting where they asked me to listen to Mr Graves and others in the club whose views differed to non-executive members of the board but were more closely aligned to those of Mr Graves. I formed the view that some of his opinions were very similar to those of the executive board and others in the club.”Responding to the DCMS committee on Yorkshire’s behalf, Lord Kamlesh Patel insisted that he had not encountered any interference from the Graves Trust since succeeding Hutton as chairman in November, but added that the club was taking steps to ensure that there could be no such issues going forward.Related

“When you have a financial agreement with those added extras, that has an observer on the board, you could veto in theory the appointment of a person,” Patel said. “That wasn’t used while I was there and I don’t believe was used before. We are currently drafting up legal documents to make sure all those powers are removed, and those will be presented at the AGM.”I’ve seen some correspondence where I believe the trusts were raising questions, in a proper manner linked, to the finances of the club,” Patel added. “To have that potential, or perception that someone does have power in a place, is not helpful for anyone going forward.”Yorkshire currently remains suspended from hosting international fixtures, pending the outcome of an ECB inquiry, and though Patel reiterated his concerns that the club cannot be “financially viable” unless its Major Match status is restored, he stated that the county’s governance review was due to be completed on Wednesday, and that they expected to get clarity on this summer’s scheduled Test against New Zealand and ODI against South Africa by the end of next month.”We’ve made immediate priorities and we’re making immediate actions now,” Patel said. “We will submit all our evidence by the end of this month that we will present to the ECB on February 1, and then we will await the decision by them to see if we’ve met the criteria.”

وأضاف: “بعض الفرق تركز أكثر على مراقبة محمد صلاح، لأن ليفربول هو فريق صلاح، مواجهة اليوم الظهير الأيسر لـ فولهام إذا تمكن من الحد من خطورة المصري، قد يساهم ذلك في أن يحقق فولهام نتيجة إيجابية”.

وواصل: “لابد أن يكون هناك تنوع في مصادر الخطورة لـ ليفربول، لا داعي للتوتر للفريق لأن في النهاية الفريق سيحقق لقب الدوري”.

حديث أبو تريكة يبدو أنه يقصد من خلاله تراجع مستوى مانشستر سيتي، في ظل الظروف العائلية الصعبة التي يمر بها مدربهم بيب جوارديولا الذي انفصل عن زوجته، وخرج من جميع البطولات باستثناء كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

ويتواجد مانشستر سيتي في المركز الخامس ببطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، وفقد فرصة الفوز باللقب للمرة الرابعة على التوالي.
