اختار أحمد حسام ميدو لاعب الزمالك الأسبق، المجموعة الأنسب لـ الأهلي، خلال مشاركته في بطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2025، موضحًا رأيه في الأصلح لتولي منصب مدير الكرة بالقلعة الحمراء.
وقال ميدو في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس”: “الأهلي يعاني من مشكلة في قلب الدفاع، والمشكلة الكبيرة التي يجب أن يحلها هو إيجاد بديل لـ وسام أبو علي”.
وتابع: “الأهلي يحتاج إلى منافسة كبيرة في خط الهجوم على مستوى رأس الحربة والجناح، الأهلي يحتاج أيضًا لمدافع، لأنه حتى الآن لم يتم تعويض رحيل محمد عبد المنعم، ويوسف أيمن لم يقدم أوراق اعتماده”.
وأردف: “أعتقد أن سلوك رضا سليم هو سبب عدم رغبة كولر في تواجده بالنادي، لأن هذا السلوك الذي يظهر عليه في المباريات يظهر أيضًا في التدريبات، وواضح جدًا إن سلوكه أمام الشاشة يصطحبه معه في التدريبات، وهذا سبب إن كولر لا يريده، لأنه لا يوجد مدرب يحب الصداع، رضا لاعب جيد لكن بعد أن أصيب وعاد لم يكن على قدر المنافسة في مركزه”.

وعن رأيه في اختيار مجموعة للأهلي بـ كأس العالم للأندية، أجاب (مازحًا): “أنا أختار للأهلي (تعالولي بقى أنا هختار) مجموعة الأهلي في كأس العالم من التصنيف الأول باريس سان جيرمان وبرشلونة وريال مدريد”.
واستطرد: “سأختار لـ الأهلي أن يتواجد مع ريفر بليت وبنفيكا أو بوروسيا دورتموند، فالأهلي يستطيع أن يقدم أداء جيد أمامهما، ومعهم أوكلاند سيتي، وبالتوفيق للأهلي”.
وعن الأنسب في رأيه لمنصب مدير الكرة في الأهلي؟، أجاب: “الأهلي غني بأبنائه، كل الأسماء المطروحة نجوم كبار، وجزء كبير من تاريخ النادي، أرى أنه لا بد أن يكون مدير الكرة سنه أصغر بكثير من محمد رمضان المدير الرياضي، ويتقبل أن يكون عنده رئيس، هذا التوازن مهم جدًا”.
وزاد: “أرى أن المناسب لهذا المنصب وليد صلاح الدين، هو شخصية عظيمة وعنده توازن، وأيضًا عماد النحاس، وعلاء ميهوب أيضًا عنده توازن، هؤلاء أسماء سبق وعملوا في هذا المنصب، ولن يكون هناك مخاطرة في تعيين أحد منهم”.
واختتم: “لكن لو الأهلي يريد إعداد كوادر يوجد عماد متعب ومحمد شوقي، وهناك اسم لم يُطرح ولكنه قادر على أن يكون مدير كرة قوي، هو عادل مصطفى، والميزة في الأهلي أن الذي يتولى منصب لا يُحاربه أحد، لأن كل واحد له دوره والكل يدعمه”.

Philippe Clement's side do still have the chance to enjoy a successful end to the current campaign when they take to the field at Hampden Park on Saturday, however, as they could win their second trophy under the Belgian boss by beating Celtic in the SFA Cup final.
They won the League Cup trophy earlier this term and are now set to compete to land a domestic double, which could help them to deal with the pain of missing out on the Premiership crown.
After the SFA Cup showpiece this weekend, the attention will then fully turn to the upcoming summer transfer window and how head of recruitment Nils Koppen can freshen up their side in order to win the division in the 2024/25 campaign.
Rangers urged to sign SPFL star
Former Scotland international and Rangers youth prospect Michael Stewart has urged the club to swoop for Hearts star Lawrence Shankland this summer.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound on Saturday (18/05/2024), the Scottish pundit claimed that it would be a "no-brainer" deal for the Gers to complete, as he is "far better" than current number nine Cyriel Dessers.
Back in February, Football Insider reported that the Light Blues are eyeing up a double swoop to sign Shankland and current loanee Abdallah Sima on permanent moves ahead of next season.

However, the outlet did not reveal, at the time, how much Hearts would want for their impressive centre-forward, or how much the Gers are prepared to pay for him.
It was claimed, by Football Insider, that the SPFL side wanted a fee in the region of £3m for him in the January transfer window, though, and that priced Rangers out of a deal at the time.
After the 3-3 draw with Hearts, Clement lamented his team's lack of efficiency in front of goal as he cited three goals from ten shots on target for his men and three goals from four shots on target for the Jam Tarts.
This suggests that the Belgian head coach would be open to adding a new striker to his squad in the summer in order to improve the efficiency of his forward line.
Koppen must now do what it takes, if it falls within the playing budget, to bring Shankland to Ibrox ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, due to his fantastic goalscoring pedigree.

The Scotland international is a proven Premiership goalscorer who has the experience and quality to hit the ground running in Glasgow under Clement next season.
Instead of taking a gamble on a player from a foreign league who does not have any prior experience in Scotland, or a young player with little experience in first-team football in any division, Rangers could go out and get a striker who knows exactly what it takes to perform in the Scottish top-flight.

The 28-year-old star, who still has plenty of years left ahead of him in his prime years, has made over 100 appearances in the Premiership, over 100 appearances in the Championship, and played 12 European games in his career to date.
Alongside his vast experience in Scotland, Shankland has also proven his quality in the league this season with a fantastic return in front of goal.
The Hearts star, who plundered a whopping 31 goals and eight assists in 47 matches in all competitions, ended the 2023/24 Premiership season with 24 goals in 36 league starts for the club.

As you can see in the table above, Shankland enjoyed a successful afternoon against Rangers on Saturday as he created three chances and scored one goal from just 45 touches of the ball.

As you can see in the table above, Clement had an array of wasteful finishers at his disposal in the Premiership this season, particularly his first-choice number nine Dessers – who underperformed by almost six goals.
Whereas, Shankland overperformed his xG by almost six goals, which means that, in theory, the Hearts striker could score between ten and 12 more goals than Dessers did if provided with the quality of chances that the Rangers man had.

All 162 people – players, officials, and administrators – who will be involved in the Caribbean Premier League have tested negative for Covid-19 upon landing in Trinidad & Tobago. An official release from the organisers said they would now be quarantined in the “official” hotel for 14 days, during which time they would be tested regularly as the tournament braces for an August 18 start.”It has been a colossal effort by all involved to get everyone safely into Trinidad & Tobago and we would like to thank everyone for their hard work and diligence. Our main priority is the health and wellbeing of all those involved in CPL and the wider population in the host country, to have got through this first step without any cases is encouraging news, but we will remain vigilant,” said the tournament operations director Michael Hall.The release said that anyone who tests positive over the quarantine period will be placed in “further isolation” in accordance with the protocols of Trinidad & Tobago.Five people have already had to pull out the tournament so far: St Kitts & Nevis Patriots’ head coach Simon Helmot tested positive five hours before he was due to leave Melbourne for the Caribbean, whereas their assistant coach Malolan Rangarajan is tied to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who want him with the team as the IPL begins its own countdown. Jones makes no mention of a potential price, but a Spanish report from earlier this week revealed that Villa have set a €70m – £60m – asking price for the Brazilian as, alongside the Gunners, Liverpool, Juventus and Manchester United, are also said to be very keen.
This deal could prove costly and complicated for Edu Gaspar and Co to get over the line, but with Zubimendi potentially off the table, it's one worth pursuing, especially given the aforementioned similarities to Xhaka.

So, before discussing the comparisons between Luiz and Zubimendi, it's worth exploring the origin of this comparison to Xhaka.
Data analyst Ben Mattinson flagged it earlier this season, highlighting that the way the Villa man has transformed from a deep-lying playmaker into a box-crashing number eight was "very similar" to the former Arsenal star's transformation in North London.
Moreover, Mattinson argues that the Brazilian shares his aggression, ball-striking, and ability to play long passes with the Swiss veteran, and while he's defensively active in the same way, he's a "more mobile version" of the Leverkusen ace.
This evolution into an eight instead of a six is already a big plus for the former Manchester City man over the Real Sociedad star, as his inclusion in the team would allow Declan Rice to play at the base of midfield, which the Englishman openly admitted is his "best position" earlier this year.
That's not to say that the San Sebastian-born dynamo couldn't play as an eight, but he's only started 55 games in central midfield compared to 142 as a six, whereas Luiz has started 143 matches in central midfield and 116 as a six.

Captain says team can’t afford another sluggish start against World Champions
Daniel Brettig10-Sep-2020Entering the inaugural ODI league that will determine World Cup qualification, Australia have a few areas of uncertainty in terms of the make-up of their side. None, though, are as pressing as a broader blind spot that looms as a major obstacle to actually qualifying for the next global event in India in 2023.In the three-match series format now inked in as the bread and butter of the 50-over game, Australia’s record over the past five years is little short of abominable. They have lost each of their past four one-day series when played over three matches, and five out of six they have played since winning the 2015 World Cup.Undoubtedly, the Australian teams led by Aaron Finch have struggled to settle down after Test-match series in particular, and so have fared rather better in longer assignments. In last year’s visit to India, for example, they came back from 2-0 down to prevail 3-2 over five matches. The World Cup itself told a similar story, as the round robin format ensured they could settle into a strong rhythm.For Finch and the coach Justin Langer, therefore, the challenge is to get the ODI unit up and firing more rapidly, to force the issue and win three-match series. In this case at least, they’ve had the chance to shake off some of the cobwebs of a coronavirus-wrecked winter, thanks to their three-match T20I series, played by the same squad That’s just as well, because Eoin Morgan’s team remains the global benchmark, in a format where World Cup qualification now has genuine challenges for established nations.”It’s a tough one, because generally for a one-day tour you get on the ground with not a huge amount of time leading up to the series, so it’s important that you start really well,” Finch said. “Especially [with] two games in three days, you can’t afford to have two bad days, otherwise the series is over. So I think having that ability to get out of the gates really quick and put a stamp on the series is really important and a lot of that lies with your senior players, no doubt, and making sure everyone’s in as good a space mentally as they can be.”In terms of that mental space, Finch conceded that the challenge of playing the series within a bio-secure was one that needed constant monitoring. “Living in the hubs there’s going to be times when guys’ emotions are up and down, no doubt,” he said. “When you can’t have family here you’re celebrating kids’ birthdays and family things like that through Zoom calls and Facetime.”I think it’s important that we all look after each other in these times as well. As long as there’s improvement, as long as guys are taking their opportunities when they arise, that’ll put us in great positions to win one-day tournaments, one-day series, and be really successful over the next few years.”Most of Australia’s recent series have, of course, been against some of the world’s more formidable sides, whether that be India and South Africa, who both beat Finch’s men in World Cup games last year, or New Zealand, who would surely have won the trophy but for the accidental intervention of Ben Stokes’ bat in the final. That sort of competition has given the Australian selectors a good deal of information, while the emergence of Marnus Labuschagne and the maturing of Mitchell Marsh have added to their options.ALSO READ: 3rd T20I report – Marsh salvages Australia No.1 ranking”We’re still searching for our best formula and our best 11 players day in, day out in the one-day format,” Finch said. “I don’t think there’s any secret to that. There’s been great opportunity that we probably haven’t nailed consistently in this format. We’ve played some really good cricket in patches and some indifferent cricket in other patches. I think it’s important that we start to finalise our best XI and make sure of our best 15 players going forward.”With extended squads travelling in the near future, it’s going to be important that we start to get our processes right in one-day cricket,” he added. “Although we finished 2-1 down in the T20 series, I thought our process and structure was really sound, we just mis-executed in a couple of positions. We’re still searching for the best formula for us. We know that any time you play England you can’t play at 90%, you have to be at 100% to beat them and we’re excited for that challenge.”Marsh was missing from the 2019 World Cup squad after playing a small role in the 2015 win, but his ODI record for Australia is by far his best at international level across the formats. “He averages 35 with the bat and I think 36 or 37 with the ball,” Finch said, “so that’s a really good package and we’ve probably been guilty of shuffling him around to try to fit some other pieces in there at certain points, so he’s someone who we’ve got a lot of confidence in. Each time he’s had his opportunity, he’s played really well for us.”I know in that middle-order position, it’s never easy to have a really high output of runs or, especially if you’re that fourth or fifth bowler, to have a huge impact. He’s got a great opportunity over the next couple of years to cement that spot and we’ve got huge confidence in him. He’s someone who has got a calm head under pressure. The way he’s matured, the parts of his game that he’s identified to improve, I think he’s made some great changes in that area.”I’ve got no doubt that, in the near future, probably the most consistent Mitch Marsh will be on show, but as we know in the two shorter formats, when you’re looking to play in that middle order, there’s times when you have to be high risk and really move the game forward, and others when you need to hold a little bit and take the game deeper. I think having that experience over the last 40 games or so that Mitch has played will give him that flexibility to understand his game and game situations.”Undoubtedly, Australia must learn to be quicker to switch on to a higher level of understanding and awareness in ODI series. A guaranteed place in India in 2023 depends on it.
