Everton Can Resolve Dele Alli Drama With Academy Star

Everton rarely shy away from controversy on and off the pitch and this season has been no different with yet another managerial sacking alongside a troubling Premier League financial investigation.

If that wasn't enough drama for one club, the Toffees are currently battling a tightly contested relegation battle and with just six games left to save their season, sit 18th in the drop zone.

Sean Dyche can barely be blamed for the trouble unfolding at the club, but will be the focal point for the Goodison Park faithful when it comes to damage control on the pitch and will be expected to save the season as his predecessor Frank Lampard did just 12 months ago.

Whether the former Burnley boss manages to retain Everton's Premier League status this season or not, there is a lot of work to be done in the summer in terms of personnel in the squad and developing a better future for the Toffees, with mistakes needing to be repaired and loose ends tied before they return to action next season.

One of those loose ends is no doubt Everton attacker Dele Alli, who was sent out on loan to Besiktas at the start of the season after failing to make an impact on Merseyside.

Sadly, he has already been frozen out by the Turkish club and will recover from his season-ending injury in England.

It is reported that the former England star will have his ties severed at Everton and will be free to leave Goodison this summer, which could pave the way for Dyche to bring through an academy star who could help forget the nightmare that has been Alli's tenure on the blue side of Merseyside.

That breakthrough player could be attacking midfielder and former U18s captain Sean McAllister, who has consistently impressed in the academy and could finally get his chance in the first team.

Who is Sean McAllister?

The 20-year-old talent joined the Blues from Dungannon Swifts back in 2019 and has quickly risen through the ranks of the youth set-up to become a key player for both the U21s and U23s.

This season, the midfielder put in some outstanding performances in the Football League Trophy and ended the tournament as the highest-rated player (8.05) in the entire squad – as per Sofascore.

Over two appearances in the competition, the Northern Irishman – who was dubbed a "great athlete" by Dixie Robinson – scored one goal and registered three assists as a marker of his attacking prowess.

Diving deeper into the stats, McAllister successfully completed 50% of his dribbles, as well as averaging 1.5 key passes and registering 1.5 shots on target per game.

In total, the youngster has tallied up 17 goals and delivered 17 assists in the U18s and U21s with a goal contribution every 143 minutes, further proving that he is a huge presence in the final third.

Last week, Everton's hot prospect was rewarded with a brand new contract to secure his future at the club until the summer of 2024 and he spoke out about his hopes for the future upon penning the deal:

"I have trained a few times with the senior side, and I hope to get a few more in. But I want to keep impressing with the Under-21s and maybe get a loan deal if one comes, too."

Indeed, the player may be keen to go out on loan soon, however, he could become an important player in the first-team squad to bolster the attacking threat at Goodison Park should they either be relegated or find themselves suffering further financial constraints.

With that being said, the future is looking bright for McAllister and if he continues to thrive in the academy, it won't be too long before the youngster follows in the footsteps of Tom Davies, Anthony Gordon and Ellis Simms.

Celtic Could Form Dream Duo With £3k-p/w Gem

With Celtic now just a game away from wrapping up the title, manager Ange Postecoglou can already set his sights on potential transfer dealings ahead of the summer window.

The 57-year-old has only recently revealed that work is being carried out with regard to possible incomings at the end of the season, with the Greek-Aussie speaking of his preference to get business done "early" once again this summer.

Despite securing the signing of Oh Hyeon-gyu in January, there have been reports that the Parkhead outfit are keen to bolster their forward line even further ahead of next season, with Football Insider revealing that the Old Firm giants are among the clubs interested in Swansea City marksman, Liam Cullen.

The report suggests that the Hoops – as well as both Middlesbrough and Sunderland – have the 24-year-old 'on their radar' amid the prospect of a potential swoop, with the Welshman an attractive prospect with just over a year left to run on his existing deal.

Would Cullen be a good signing for Celtic?

There may be some who would question the wisdom in signing a striker who has scored just 13 goals in 68 games for his current side, although Cullen has been in a rich vein of form this season, with eight goals from just 13 Championship starts.

A truly "underrated" talent – as per journalist Josh Bunting – the Kilgetty-born ace would also provide the benefit of his ability to feature all across the frontline, ensuring he could provide further attacking firepower alongside current leading man, Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japanese sensation has been in scintillating form so far this season with 29 goals in 43 games in all competitions, with the 28-year-old's tally of 23 Scottish Premiership goals making him the leading scorer in the division at present.

Not only a real clinical asset in front of goal, the former Vissel Kobe man has particularly caught the eye due to his impressive movement in his number nine berth, with Postecoglou lauding that trait as the "best [he's] ever seen" last month.

Swansea's Liam Cullen

That ability to stretch a defence is seemingly shared by Cullen, as the £3k-per-week forward "drops so quickly between centre-backs" and "drags defenders apart", as per Bunting.

A figure who also "trains like a beast" – according to manager Russell Martin – the former Wales U21 international could also mirror Kyogo's stunning work ethic, with the latter man having praised for his "phenomenal" work rate by Postecoglou.

To have an attacking pairing who can both provide the goods in front of goal but also work tirelessly out of possession would be a dream for the Celtic boss, with it seemingly no surprise as to why Cullen is earning admiring glances from those in Glasgow.

Unai Emery Spotted Shouting At Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia

Unai Emery was visibly angry with Aston Villa playmaker Emi Buendia following his first-half display at Old Trafford, as journalist Ashley Preece spotted the two in a heated exchange on the touchline.

How has Buendia played for Aston Villa?

The Argentina international has had an inconsistent season, racking up five goals and three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

He had a first half to forget as Villa went behind at Old Trafford, completing just 53% of his passes and losing possession nine times, much to Emery's annoyance.

The Spaniard has done a magnificent job since arriving at Villa Park, helping take the Villans from relegation candidates to European contenders, but it appeared as though Buendia was not following the manager's strict instructions.

Preece highlighted the exchange between the two while covering the game for BirminghamLive, claiming that Emery may have been annoyed by Buendia's inability to follow his instructions.

He wrote: "The manager calls Buendia over, he's clearly not happy with something. He gestures to his player to keep his head, with the playmaker clearly not following what's being asked."

Does Buendia have a bright future at Villa?

Aston Villa spent a whopping £38m to bring Buendia to the club as one of the replacements for Jack Grealish,

He has provided just nine goals and nine assists in 73 appearances and has not contributed as much to Villa's incredible run as the likes of Ollie Watkins.

If Villa do end up qualifying for Europe, they could look to upgrade on their attacking midfield options, perhaps by reigniting their interest in Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe.

If they do reinforce in attacking areas, Buendia may the one who loses his starting place, and if this issue with Emery is a sign any strain behind the scenes, he could even be sacrificed from the squad.

Emery has previously clashed with technical attacking stars including Mesut Ozil and Neymar from his spells at Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, and it remains to be seen whether he would like to continue with the system that deploys Buendia in a No 10 role.

If he does elect to change formation, the Argentinian could be up for the chop, given that the likes of Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn are adapting to his tactics with more ease than the former Norwich star.

His clear inability to retain the ball this weekend may not have done Buendia any favours in trying to stay in Emery's good books going forward.

£35k-p/w Flop Should Never Start For Man Utd Again

Manchester United dropped yet more points in the Premier League, this time to West Ham United in a 1-0 defeat yesterday.

With Liverpool breathing down their necks in a race for a coveted Champions League spot, Erik ten Hag’s men seemed to have a position in Europe’s elite competition sewn up just a few weeks ago, however, that gap has narrowed significantly.

David De Gea was once again at fault for United, letting a weak shot from Said Benrahma escape through his grasp and settle in the back of the net. That horrendous error means the Spaniard has now made four errors leading to a goal this season.

The score remained 1-0 and it was yet another poor performance from the Old Trafford side, as it appears their gruelling fixture list has finally caught up with them.

It wasn’t just De Gea who was poor for the Red Devils during the loss, with Wout Weghorst once again failing to demonstrate the qualities which led Ten Hag to sign him on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

How did Wout Weghorst perform against West Ham?

The Dutchman was deployed in the number ten role, just behind Marcus Rashford, however, his performance was poor, and it’s clear he isn’t suited to an attacking midfield role, failing to score or assist across three games whilst playing in this position for the club.

The forward managed only 28 touches throughout, remarkably fewer than De Gea's 48, which considering he was looked upon to link the play between midfield and attack, is a woeful return. To make matters worse, he only completed 16 passes.

The on-loan Burnley man failed to prove any sort of meaningful attacking contribution aside from the fact he succeeded with one dribble and took one shot. Considering the 30-year-old has scored only once for the club, it’s a wonder why he started against West Ham in the first place.

Man United strikerWout Weghorst

Winning just two duels from seven attempts and being dribbled past three times suggests the £35k-per-week ace was easily bullied, and this lightweight nature proves that Ten Hag mustn’t start him again during the final four matches of the campaign, especially when there is still so much to play for.

The player was described by talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy as looking “like a fish up a tree” due to him being thrust among these world-class players at United and his performances since arriving in January have certainly justified that hilarious quip.

West Indies have become a really good ODI unit – de Villiers

South Africa captain AB de Villiers is looking for a more dynamic performance from his team as they come up against what he believes is a more consistent West Indies team

‘Need to operate better as a team’ – de Villiers

South Africa captainAB de Villiers is looking for a more dynamic performance from his team as they come up against what he believes is a more consistent West Indies team. The two sides will meet for the second time in the round-robin stage of the ongoing ODI tri-series in Basseterre on Wednesday.”They’re not as unpredictable as they used to be. They’ve become a really good ODI unit,” de Villiers said of West Indies. “They seem to know what they’re doing – they’ve got world-class players both in the batting line-up and the bowling line-up. They’re a force to be reckoned with, especially in their home conditions. They know what to expect.”West Indies have won two of their three matches – one each against South Africa and Australia – in their first ODI series at home in almost two years. They last played a 50-over series at home in August 2014, when they beat Bangladesh 3-0. Before that, they lost series against England (2-1) and Pakistan (3-1) in February 2014 and July 2013 respectively. The most noticeable difference between the West Indies side of 2014 and the current squad is the absence of players like Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, but senior players like Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Marlon Samuels have emerged as the superstars of this series for West Indies so far and the only way de Villiers can see South Africa matching up is as a collective. “They’ve got world-class players all round but we’re just going to have to top that and have a better team performance. That’s the word that stands out for me – us operating as a team which was something we didn’t do well in the last game [against Australia].”South Africa’s batting has been a tale of two halves with the top five getting starts but only two of the bottom six getting into double figures in the three matches so far. Their only reserve batsman, Dean Elgar, plays in the top five, which means that to include him they would have to do away with a bowler. The other option is to bring in the other allrounder, Chris Morris. Either way, de Villiers hinted changes would be in order.”I’m a big believer, in a series like this, where there are three different venues, that you’ve got to chop and change the whole time; try not to be predictable but, at the same time, try and be consistent with your performances,” he said. “We’ve let ourselves down once or twice in the performances department but I’ve really enjoyed the way we’ve changed the balance of the side. All the guys who came in performed really well individually but as a team we haven’t clicked yet. That will be our focus – really operating together as a team, gelling nicely together, and I believe we’ll play those pressure situations much better.”De Villiers admitted there was a sense of “doom and gloom” after South Africa’s 36-run loss to Australia last Saturday, when they slipped from 210 for 4 to 252 all out in a 289-run chase. The South Africa captain, however, chose to focus on the other, more positive, side of their game – the bowling.”Our bowling department’s been really good. The bowling skills have been as good as they’ve been in the last two or three years,” he said. “I’ve seen guys really nailing their yorkers. When I’ve asked for bouncers, really good aggressive bouncers have been bowled. Skill-wise everyone who has come in has got it right. There’s been just one or two no-balls too many. Maybe it’s just a bit of a lack of that unit that I’ve been talking about, playing together as a team.”

Arsenal: Edu Could Now Sign "Very Tough" Real Madrid Star

Arsenal are now eyeing a move for Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy who has been told he can find a new club, according to journalist Tom Hopkinson.

What's the latest Arsenal transfer news?

The Gunners and Mikel Arteta have been dealt a hammer blow in their pursuit of a first Premier League title in nearly 20 years, with their hopes all but dashed after a humbling 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

Man City, as a result, are now well and truly in the ascendency and could seal their third-successive domestic crown with victory over Chelsea this weekend.

Barring a capitulation from Pep Guardiola's side, Arsenal may already have to look on to next campaign, with sporting director Edu already confirming that plans for summer signings are well and truly underway.

"It's already started because you know what's happening in the market, everybody is doing stuff," said the transfer chief in March."You have to plan with people as well just to be prepared so when you go again in the summer you are very prepared."

As well as reportedly targeting central midfield signings, it is believed that Arsenal could reinforce in defence, with Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi among the players linked.

Now, as per a report by The Daily Mirror and their reporter Hopkinson, Galacticos full-back Mendy could well join Arsenal after he's been told to find a new club by Madrid.

Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy.

Indeed, Real have apparently informed the 27-year-old's representatives that there is no new deal on the table for him, and that Mendy is free to search for another home.

This is where Arsenal come in, as Arteta's side are apparently now on "red alert" and eyeing a move for the Frenchman, with this report claiming he could cost as little as £17.5 million.

Mendy's agents are likely to seek talks with Spurs, too, but Arsenal's status as a Champions League club for next season could hand them an advantage.

What could Mendy bring to Arsenal?

The former Lyon star is capable of operating as both a left-back and further forward in left-midfield, coming as a brilliant alternative to Oleksandr Zinchenko and replacement for Kieran Tierney, with the latter thought to be leaving.

Former Real star Raphael Varane has also heaped praise on Mendy in past seasons, calling him a "very tough" player with "incredible" physical strength.

He said to Marca in 2020:

"The physical strength he has is incredible. He is adapting very well and allows us to put together great efforts in matches. His forte is defense but he helps us a lot in all facets of the game. He's confirming his potential. We gave him a brick for the clubs he puts in training. He's very tough."

The £154,000-per-week star has been a semi-regular at the Bernabeu since he joined them from Ligue 1, owing to his ability, and now Arsenal could have the chance to bring him to north London for below £20 million.
